A FOST DEMULT
It Was Long Ago — a pale dome above a small figure

A wide pale dome sits high on the sheet with a thin bright line ruled across beneath it, and a small figure standing far below. The scale between the two does most of the work.
Sodium hypochlorite — household bleach — drawn onto black paper with brush, dropper and bare hand. The bleach lifts the dye out of the sheet rather than adding anything to it, so every mark arrives pale gold and none of them can be taken back. A line keeps spreading after the hand has left, which means the drawing finishes itself.
Titled A FOST DEMULT — it was long ago. The dome is not painted on; it is the sheet itself, bleached back to cream and stopped where the liquid stopped.
