CNCRT LAYER

One concrete slab, counted into furniture

Three-quarter view of a concrete bench made of flat slabs stacked with open gaps, on a pale grey background
CNCRT LAYER is a bench, a chair and a low table built from a single part: a flat concrete slab with softened corners. Nothing is joined. Each piece is a stack — slabs laid flat to make a seat, stood on edge to make a back — and the gap between every layer is left open, so the dark lines between them do most of the drawing. One slab, repeated, is the entire vocabulary. Height is a count rather than a new component: the chair is a taller stack than the bench, the table is a short one with a loose top laid across it and set off-centre. Because the parts never change, the shadow between layers becomes the only decoration. It sits in the objects family as a 2025 study — furniture treated as a countable kit instead of a set of individual models.
