EVERYTHING CAN

Every letter and every digit, written out

Alphabets written in pale gold along long curving lines, with columns of handwritten digits counting up and back down at the right
Alphabets run along long curving lines across the sheet, and columns of digits count up and then back down beside them. The letters never assemble into a word and the numbers never total anything. Sodium hypochlorite — household bleach — drawn onto black paper with brush, dropper and bare hand. The bleach lifts the dye out of the sheet rather than adding anything to it, so every mark arrives pale gold and none of them can be taken back. A line keeps spreading after the hand has left, which means the drawing finishes itself. Titled EVERYTHING CAN. It belongs with the cryptogram buried in HYELTW and the invented scripts in the caustic paintings — a language that has every part of a language except meaning.
