INTAMPINARE
Welcoming — two figures and the line between them

Two figures face each other, one crowned, one built from a dense mesh of line. A row of dots passes between them at chest height, and a longer dotted path curves away below their feet.
Sodium hypochlorite — household bleach — drawn onto black paper with brush, dropper and bare hand. The bleach lifts the dye out of the sheet rather than adding anything to it, so every mark arrives pale gold and none of them can be taken back. A line keeps spreading after the hand has left, which means the drawing finishes itself.
Titled INTÂMPINARE — welcoming, a greeting, a going-out-to-meet. The dotted line is the only thing in the drawing that touches both of them.
