MANUSCRIPT

A single panel drawn in pale gold on black and then folded down the middle, so it stands by itself and can never be read flat. A horse, a standing figure, an arc of small marks, a sun in the top corner. The fold runs straight through the drawing rather than between two halves of it, which means one side is always turning away.

That is the argument the title makes. A manuscript is a thing you hold open, not a thing on a wall, and this one is shown at reading height on a plinth rather than hung. The book works of the same years fold the same way; this one is a single sheet behaving like a book.
