PIONEER

PIONEER is a slip-on with no laces, no tongue and no fastening of any kind. The upper is a single knitted piece that runs unbroken from toe to heel, opened at the ankle in a low oval. It stands on a thick unit sole whose underside is a field of raised oval pods, packed tight along the tread line. Because nothing can be added later to hold the foot, the shape has to do it. The only structure on the upper is a run of stepped bands where the collar meets the sidewall — shallow ledges that fall away toward the toe and then disappear into the sole. Modelled in 2023 and made up in bone and black. The samples were worn on the street and photographed there, then carried to the studio's Paris showroom in 2024.
