A black sneaker, and over the whole of it a second drawing in gold, thin lines that loop and double back and gather into small beads where they meet. The line has no structural job. It does not follow a seam, hold a panel or mark a size. It is ornament, laid on a shape that was designed to need none.

The shell underneath is the same language as the other shoes of that year, one continuous body with no laces, no tongue and no branding, a sole made of soft stacked lobes. What changes is the surface. Where the white sneaker of the same run carried a dark red growth that read as something the shoe had caught, this one carries something applied on purpose, by hand, the way a metalworker would.
