CUMPĂNĂ
Weights, threads and one square hanging still
Black on white, and almost nothing on the sheet. Three filled discs of different sizes sit far apart. Thin lines cross without touching. A small black square hangs off a vertical thread, and a pair of hair-fine rods lean against nothing.
Everything in it is either a weight or a thing holding a weight. Nothing is moving, but nothing is resting either — take one disc away and the whole sheet would tip.
CUMPĂNĂ is the beam of a well, the thing a balance is made of. It also means the moment before something goes one way or the other.
